Manual Lymphatic Drainage for Post-Cancer Lymphoedema

Gentle, individually assessed Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) for clients experiencing lymphatic swelling following cancer treatment. MLD may be suitable for lymphoedema associated with cancer treatment, including following lymph-node removal or dissection, breast cancer surgery, radiotherapy and other procedures affecting the lymphatic system. Treatment is individually tailored and may include: Assessment of swelling, tissue condition and lymphatic presentation Gentle Manual Lymphatic Drainage using the Casley-Smith method Treatment planning based on the individual's medical and treatment history Guidance on movement, skin care and lymphatic self-care Support with compression garment referral where appropriate Review and adjustment of treatment according to response Practitioner: Level 3 qualified massage and soft-tissue therapist, trained in Casley-Smith Manual Lymphatic Drainage and registered with MLD UK. The Casley-Smith method is an established approach to Manual Lymphatic Drainage and is used within lymphoedema care, including NHS practice. This service is provided as a specialist MLD treatment and does not replace assessment or treatment by a specialist lymphoedema service, oncology team or other medical professional. Where appropriate, medical clearance or referral will be recommended before treatment.
